In 1964 the decision was accepted to organize an independent chair of industrial transport which was separated from the chair of mining machines and complexes.
The IT chair has three subject auditoriums, a computer class and an auditorium for degree designing, and also a training-laboratory base for perfection of the educational process, located on the ground floor of the main building and equipped with natural full-size stands, models, breadboard models, posters, etc. Now the chair carry trains engineers in three basic specializations - «Organization of transportations and management (on industrial, railway and motor transport)». Since 2001 students have been enrolled to speciality «Construction of railways, a roads and travelling facilities».
The basic subjects on the specified specialities are: special types of transport; management of cargo and commercial work on transport; the general plan and transport of the enterprises; a rolling stock of transport; railway stations and units; management of operational work and the organization of transportations on transport; organization, planning and management on transport; operation of motor transport and the organization of auto-transportations; bases of the law of shipping; the device and operation of a road; transport economics; automatics, telemechanics and communication; researches and designing of a railway transportation, etc.
The chair has a branch in the Karaganda branch of transportations (station «Sorting») where the students are trained in specialization «Organization of transportations and management of main railway transportation», listen to lectures and have practical employment, and also educational and industrial practices.
The collective of the chair has won the competition on the development of a State Standard in speciality «Organization of transportations and management (on types of transport)».
The chair applies new technologies of the students’ training: test control, including on personal computers; modular and rating system, etc.
The personnel structure of the chair consists of 16 teachers, 2 pluralists, 1 post-graduate student and three units of the teaching-and-support personnel, including two engineers and the laboratory assistants.
For 40 years of the existence of the chair it trained over 1200 experts for various industries. The employees of the chair made a certain contribution in the economic, industrial development of the region and Kazakhstan as a whole.
