Еру сhair of physics of the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute was formed in 1953.
For a long time the basic scientific directions of the chair have been connected with mining, that is with problems of physics of a solid body and rocks.
Within the framework of these researches the employees of the chair have made a great contribution into analysis of physical processes arising in low-temperature plasma at high-voltage electrical breakdown of condensed environments. Some experimental and semi-industrial installations were developed and successfully realized for various customers of laser diagnostics technique of quick going processes in the conditions of strong optical, acoustic, mechanical and electromagnetic clutter.
Extensive researches of physical processes occurring at high-voltage breakdown of solid dielectric, carried out by the chair employees, have allowed to develop and to adjust release of electro-pulse installations for clearing pipelines (water and thermal networks, boiler) from solid mineral depositions.
Now about 30% of the teachers, working at the chair, and the employees have scientific degrees and ranks. Many teachers have more than 20 year experience in pedagogical activity in higher school.
